- 03
Download SRT or VTT
SRT (SubRip) works in many video editors and players. VTT (WebVTT) is the format web video players use.
What you get
Subtitle files without the manual timing.
Timing from the audio
Every subtitle carries a start and end time taken from the recording, so you don’t type timecodes by hand.
Clean line breaks
Subtitle files come with clean line breaks, ready to drop into your editor or upload alongside the video.
Fix it before you export
Correct a name or a number in the editor while the audio plays, then export. No round trip through another tool.
Dozens of languages
The spoken language is detected for you, or you can pick it yourself if you already know it.
Good for
Made for video people want to watch, and read.
Short and social video
Add captions so a clip can be followed without sound.
Lectures and courses
Subtitle recordings for students who read along or watch in a second language.
Podcasts with video
Turn an episode into a caption file for its video version.

Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and never used to train AI models. Delete a file any time and it leaves your library at once.
Questions
What is the difference between SRT and VTT?
Both are plain-text subtitle formats with a start and end time for each line. SRT is the older, widely supported one; VTT is what web video players use. You can download both.
Can I edit the subtitles before downloading?
Yes. The transcript opens in an editor that plays the audio as you read, so you can fix words before you export.
Which files can I turn into subtitles?
Any common audio or video format, up to 5 GB, or a link from YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, Facebook or X. Private videos can’t be imported.
Does NiceScribe add the subtitles to my video?
No. You get the subtitle file. Add it in your video editor, or upload it next to the video on the platform you publish to.
Is subtitle export free?
Yes. Free includes SRT and VTT export, 3 files a day, up to 30 minutes each. Unlimited is $10 a month, billed yearly.
