How it works

From recording to quotable text.

  1. 01

    Upload the interview

Drop the audio or video, up to 5 GB, or record in your browser. Turn on speaker labels and, if you know it, tell us how many people spoke.

  2. 02

    Name the speakers

NiceScribe works out who spoke when. Rename each speaker once and the name changes everywhere, or move a line that was given to the wrong person.

  3. 03

    Check quotes and export

Play the audio as you read to check a quote, then download DOCX, PDF or TXT, with or without timestamps. Or share a read-only link.

What you get

Built for checking a quote before you print it.

  • A source moment for every quote

Every line has a timestamp, so you can go back to the exact moment in the recording before you quote someone.

  • Speaker names that stick

Rename a speaker once for the whole transcript instead of fixing every line.

  • Search across interviews

Search everything you’ve transcribed to find who said what, and in which interview.

  • Share without an account

Turn on a read-only link so an editor or colleague can read and play the recording. Turn it off and the link stops working.

Good for

Used for conversations that matter.

  • Journalism and research

Turn field interviews into text you can code, quote and cite.

  • Podcasts and shows

Show notes, quotes and articles from every episode.

  • Hiring and user research

Keep a searchable record of candidate and customer conversations, with the speakers named.

Questions

How do speaker labels work?

Turn on speaker labels before you start. NiceScribe works out who spoke when, and you can rename speakers or move a line to another speaker afterwards.

Can I transcribe a phone or video-call recording?

Any common audio or video format works, including call recordings saved as MP3, M4A or MP4, up to 5 GB per file. Only record people who know they are being recorded.

Can I get timestamps in the export?

Yes. DOCX, PDF and TXT can be downloaded with or without timestamps, and SRT and VTT carry the timing of each line.

How long can an interview be?

Up to 30 minutes on Free and 10 hours on Unlimited. Free covers 3 files a day; Unlimited is $10 a month, billed yearly.

Is my recording private?

Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and never used to train AI models. Delete a file any time and it leaves your library at once, its media is removed within 24 hours, and backups clear within about 89 days.
